The new generation of safe, environmentally friendly fire protection systems.
FM200 is an environmentally acceptable solution to replace Halon 1301, which previously offered excellent fire protection for critical assets. Since the manufacture of Halon 1301 — an agent causing ozone layer depletion and contributing to global warming — was prohibited in 1993 in the USA and phased out under GATT agreements, there was a critical need for a clean, efficient, environmentally acceptable, and people-safe extinguishing agent effective for fires involving paper, cellulosics, and flammable liquids.
FM200 was developed to replace Halon 1301 and meets all these needs. While alternative systems are generally more expensive than Halon 1301, FM200 is one of the most economical options because:
We offer high-pressure Carbon Dioxide (CO2) fire suppression systems to minimize the potential for loss of life and property in specialized environments. When designed, installed, and maintained per NFPA 12, our systems can be used safely and effectively in various special hazard applications.
CO2 extinguishes fire by reducing the oxygen content of the protected area below the point where combustion can occur. Due to its extreme density, it quickly permeates the hazard area, suppressing the fire. Rapid expansion of the gas lowers the ambient temperature, aiding extinguishing and retarding re-ignition.
When designed, engineered, and installed properly, CO2 systems generally do not damage sensitive electronic equipment and leave no residual cleanup. Once ventilated after fire suppression, the gas safely escapes into the atmosphere.
CO2 systems can protect a wide variety of hazards, from delicate electronic equipment to high-voltage electrical equipment, without risk of damage. Our Carbon Dioxide systems are available for use in total flooding or local application protection systems.
