Portable Foam Fire Extinguishers, stored pressure models, and internal
high pressure carbon dioxide cartridge models have the following
characteristics:
AFFF, Aqueous Film Forming Foam, is an extinguisher, suppressing
fires almost as quickly as powder and which in addition to
that, seals the burning surface against re-ignition. It is
intended for use mainly against fires in petrol, oil and other
liquids but is highly effective also against fires in wood,
textiles and other fibrous materials. Discharge of the extinguishing
liquid is controlled by using the lever valve with a foam making
branch pipe nozzle discharging the foam solution, which provide
a rapid hard knock down effect on surface fires.
In extinguishing, the foam is partly broken down and gives
off a thin spreading over the burning surface and preventing
further release of the burning gases. The film is self-healing,
i.e., if it is damaged in any way, new film will quickly float
out and cover the fuel surface again. The foam will therefore
give exceptionally good protection against re-ignition, which
means increased safety for the operator.
The cylinders of these models have bursting pressure much
above average. We manufacture the shells by using high quality
steel sheet which guarantees consistency and excellent quality.
All portable foam extinguishers have been coated internally
for optimal protection against corrosion.
